ask the patient to lie down on a flat hard bed. ask him to straightene his leg as much as possible.check for lumbar lordiosis by inserting the hand between the pts spine and the table. now ask him to flex his ( the healthy)leg at the knee and the hip and draw the leg towards the chest... if the patient has flexion deformity of the hip then the affected limb flexes at the knee joint
