well..........in gujarat , they do not pay much...thats for sure.......dnt know where it stands in comparision to other states ...this is for private hospitals(anywhere bet 12k to 25k, eg apollo hosp at ahmedabad pays 12000 to freshers...gloomy..huh?, private companies requiring a rubber stamp medical officer pays upto 40k but in that case one has to live away from the city, in their townships).....the govt pays(around 25k) more than private hosps...plus 6th pay commision is going to be implemented soon......

by the way, choosing a job at mbbs level depends entirely on your future plans.... wanna collect some moolah while preparing for PG\usmle or any exam for that matter or just want to settle down and enjoy life........

some moolah..
after writing step 1 , as a break , i wud love to add this to my c.v.

well, you should join a reputed hospital no matter how less they pay but the weight it can provide to ur cv is going to be great.......but on the other hand,I have learned that bigger hospitals pay less as compared to work......besides, the work is kind of a clerk with an MBBS degree......completeting history sheets, discharge forms, informing consultants about their patho/radiology reports...you can't give even paracetamol to the patient without asking the consultant.......So it can get pretty boring....unless you can convince the consultants to teach you something...which is difficult as they are always on the go...

sounds boring to me !! lol
but i like the "the weight it can provide to ur cv is going to be great".

and what is your idea of a reputed hospital ...???
max, apollo, fortis .. or some over-crowded govt. hospital ?

i think before going for house job, u must set ur priorites first, like u want to learn some work or to just earn money or just prepare for pg.
if u want to learn, medicine and surgery are best br for it, with unlimited patients and scope for doing things urself and in govt hosp like gtb or lnjp in del, with also good salary now app 47 and also good time. its not that u will be overloaded like pg.
but if u want to just prepare for pg take any other cool br like psychiatry, optha and most of others even in govt hosp, where u can get ample time with salary.
my opinion is that one must thrive for learning and do in surg or med, even for less days, beacuse otherwise u dont learn anything and dont get selection also.

47 ? oh damn cool..
infact i heard something like that but din belv it !
d u know how to apply in gtb or lnjp, delhi.
yes, i think u r right about taking surg or med, i also feel the same .
have a few months before i wrrite step 2 , going for 2011 match ... so.. want to learn something , internship was a complete waste (spend most of the time studying )

do u have any idea about house jobs in mumbai , i heard marashtra govt. does'nt pay much, but we have some of the best hospitals thr !!.. any idea?
a bit torn between del and mumbai ..lol !

ya its true acc to new commision. well about getting it, u just missed interview for regular jobs just finshed in gtb, well fresh interviews are allways done periodically u just have to follow newspapers or keep in touch

Reply to This

yeah ?
but i still have 2 more months of internship left ..
anything about mumbai u know?
checked out the sites for tata memorial , breach candy , wockhardt but they were'nt helpful..
oh i thought u completd internship. sry i have no idea about mumbai, u are from mumbai?
if you want to learn something you must work in emergency ward for sometime.....there, as the patient arrives, you will be the first person to see him/her...it will be you who'll do initial assessment, no consultants will be there to advise you , they will arrive only after sometime .....you will learn how to take immediate decisions..how to proceed with ABC of emergencies and like that..in wards you'll have patients who are stable and treatment going on as per consultant's advise, nothing much to do for a medical officer apart from taking regular vitals and copy pasting the orders...however, it will give you an idea regarding routine care of a patient which EMR wont teach you much....but that part is easy to learn....

ah yes, you are right !
i guess i shud look for a house job in critical care ..
delhi shud be fine if they are paying 47 .. but any idea about the working hours??
and i alo wanted to know if accomodation is provided by the hospitals or not ?
