'Complacent' vs. 'Complaisant'


Complacent -feeling so satisfied with your own abilities or situation that you feel you do not need to try any harder: content.. It has the added meaning “marked by self-satisfaction."


Ex. a complacent smile/attitude.


Complacent means self-satisfied, smug, or contented to a fault.

Complaisant, a relatively recent loanword from French, means cheerfully obliging or tending to go along with others.
